Vaccinations!
Yesterday I took Iwan to the GPs for his 3rd Pneumococcal vaccination. His appointment was 1.40pm, they have a computerised booking in system so I booked us in and sat down. I let Iwan wander around the surgery (under supervision of course) LOL. He was yelling, and toddling about, showing everyone his belly and grinning madly!!
GP surgeries are dangerous places, a lady waiting had 2 little girls, her youngest immediately tried to nick Iwan's duck, which he wasn't best pleased about, when Iwan went over to her, the woman said to me, 'I'd keep him away as I think she (her eldest) has got chicken pox'! Great I thought, it's a bit late now should have left her at home or with her nan!
When Iwan got his duck back he proceeded to wander up and down throwing his duck and making strange sounds that could have been quacks, until he was drawn inexplicably to the plug socket, it had no cover on it and he started flicking the switch on and off, and almost went to put his fingers in before I took him away from it.
We'd been waiting half an hour by now, so I was getting a bit peeved off. I checked with the receptionist that we hadn't been forgotton and she said we'd be next. A couple arrived with twin boys who were born on valentine day, they were so cute, Iwan wanted to steal one of their dummies! The parents were from eastern Europe or Russia, the mum commented that Iwan was soo much bigger to which I replied, yes, but there was only one of him and he started big!
Eventually we got called to see the nurse, the delay was due to a new computer being fitted into the treatment room, and they'd not finished, I'd had to wait 40 mins, I couldn't believe they'd just not used a different room 40 minutes earlier! I decided as we were there I'd get them to give him his MMR too, so I didn't have to go through another long wait in a couple of weeks. I also pointed out that their vaccination letter had a total of 3 spelling mistakes and they should run the spell checker over it!!
Iwan was not impressed with having 2 injections, and he screamed loudly until distracted with a toy. One of his legs today is quite red around the injection site so I presume this one was the MMR. He's very grizzly, screechy and whining today, and calpol is not helping. He really has just spent the whole morning having a tantrum, so I hope he wakes up in a better mood.
All I can say is Daddy is very lucky to get out of taking him for vaccinations and being able to escape to work!
