I LIKE Toby Carvery! No I mean REALLY like it! I love the fact that you can have as many zero-point vegetables as you like for a fixed price. I love the fact that the resulting lovely roast dinner can work out to be as little as 7-8 points for 2 or 3 plates-ful and I PARTICULARLY like the fact that you can get a MASSIVE roast dinner for £5 before 7 p.m. (I think it is) during the week!
It's one of my fave places to go for a treat as it IS a treat without scuppering my weight-loss efforts so when we went last night a jolly old time was had by all. OK, so I really wanted to have the ice-cream for desert and actually said "No" to it, but TBH, I was pretty full up! lol! The bargain hunter in me hated turning down whippy ice-cream for £1 but I am trying to learn that taking advantage of a low price is not ALWAYS the bargain that it seems.
I do like something for nothing though, so going blackberry picking when we got home was perfect. I seem to remember blogging about it last year too (when I got hideously scarred by the thorns and the stinging nettles) so this time I took a stick and some secateurs! There's nothing like going prepared! Some of the local bushes had beautiful plump blackberries and we picked at least 3lbs in about half an hour. I have spotted some other good sites on my local runs and will probably go out again tomorrow after the rain.
Covered in vanilla yoghurts they were lovely later that evening and I am looking forward to cooked apple and blackberry today and having some on my bran flakes tomorrow. Heaven!
