Wow! How fab is that? Partner and I like to put a pound or two on a couple of horses on the day of the Grand National. It's become one of our little traditions of happy things we do and is a fun way to spend the morning (placing the bet) and the afternoon (watching the race).
We had £1 on "Comply or Die" to win at 10/1 (we got the odds at the time as the odds on a favourite or near-favourite tend to shorten towards the starting time) and had 50p each-way on "King John's Castle" as well as a couple of others which weren't placed - but who ALL finished!
That's £13.50 winnings on a £6 stake. We'll go and collect on Tuesday (my next day not working) and maybe celebrate at the local Wetherspoons with a few tasters of their festival ales. They're doing 3 x 1/3rd pint tasters of all the real ales they have on for the 3 weeks of the festival for only £1.59. It's a great way to sample new things and see what you think.
It's rather sweet that it's exactly a year since I started blogging on Connect (when it started too) and I remember doing a post about backing the winner last year as well!
