Fire!
I nearly burnt the house down yesterday morning! Thankfully, no damage was done, but if I hadn't been in I'm not sure what would have been left of the place!
I received a parcel for Tom in the morning, placed the box on my dressing table and went back to bed to read a book. On this table, I had a mirror that I use for makeup which has 8x magnification on one side. I don't think I could recreate this if I tried, but I must have knocked it into the perfect position to magnify the sunlight onto the cardboard box. After a while, I noticed something moving in the corner of my eye and looked over to see it was a whisp of smoke from the box. By the time I went over to the smouldering cardboard, the lid of the box was engulfed in flames! I was amazed at how quickly it caught, and how easily it could have spread... curtains...bedsheets... entire room!! I moved the mirror and poured a glass of water over the box, but even that didn't put it out completely. I am so silly to have left the mirror on the table, it is usually put away. At least I was in the room and could act quickly!

P.s. The contents of the box was fine. I removed some slightly melted plastic padding, and could see that the books inside were undamaged, if a little smoky!
