What a difference 5 months makes

    Wednesday, October 24th, 2007, 7:34 am

Well, I've just read the stuff I wrote in May, and I can't believe it's that long since I last had chance to write anything.

Happily, the house move worked out OK in the end, although that's a loose description of what happened really!  Completion was a month later than planned leaving us to move in the middle of our busy season.  But best of all we moved on the 20th July, which will be a memorable date for many people as it's the day of those torrential downpours that caused all the terrible floods in the summer!  Just the kind of weather you want for removals!  And of course we 'saved' money by doing it ourselves, and ended up absolutely soaked to the skin.  It was a great day!  However, our new home is fabulous and we're really happy there so it was worth it.

Our old landlady is still causing us problems - trying to charge us £600 for curtains that were never in the rental house to begin with!  When we moved in I bought new curtains for every room in the sales and spent less than £300, so where they get £600 from I don't know.  Especially as, like I said, we had no curtains to begin with!

The second most exciting development of the year, after the house move, is the new addition to the family.  No, not a bouncing baby, but a bonkers dog.  Daisy is a 6 month old rescue pup, part Springer, part Collie, and she's gorgeous.  She's got us into a good routine with walks and playtime!  She's just learned to swim, so thinks nothing of plunging into the freezing cold river along our regular walk route, and leaving me on the bank having kittens till she lands ashore again.  Other favourite activities include ball throwing - she'd run after the ball all day given half a chance; chewing - pretty much anything, although slippers are high on the list of favourites; and throwing her stuffed lion toy around the lounge.  Hours of entertainment, for her and us.

Anyway, I'm not sure where this blog gets published now, so if it's gone somewhere completey inappropriate, such as the good knitters group or the Beauty product review group, apologies, and I'll try and figure out how to re-publish it more effectively!
