Charley was, as expected, evicted on Friday to the usual chorus of booing and sneering from the only people in the world sadder than the housemates - those who actually queue up at the studio to watch them come out.
No sooner had the dust settled than Big Brother announced the 'new twist' (that everyone knew was going to happen) and threw five more housemates into the mix.
They will be stationed in a 'halfway house' and take part in various swap deals and tasks with regular contestants before some of them are evicted.
The five are a typically freakish bunch of weirdos, including a man who practises withcraft, a glamour model and the former leader of a Doctor Who society.
Anyone who watched them go in would have been unfortunate enough to see care assistant Shanessa strutting about in a far too revealing outift that made her look like a cross between Jade Goody and Lynne Perrie.
We've also seen Chanelle finally decide to quit after splitting up with Ziggy (again). Her walkout lasted all of half an hour after Big Brother persuaded her to go back in and think her decision over.
No doubt they're keen not to lose the Ziggy and Chanelle circus just yet as ratings for the show are at their lowest since the series launched eight years ago, with an average of 3.7m viewers tuning in each night.
A typically bullish Channel 4 spokesman said: 'It consistently beats its slot average and attracts a huge number of young, upmarket viewers.'
Yeah right...
