Description: It's back, and this year promises to be even more warped and twisted than ever! Come here to share your gossip, rant about annoying housemates, share

That's all folks...

After 94 days, a seemingly endless stream of contestants and, well, not much else, Big Brother is drawing to a close (or has drawn to a close if you're reading this after Friday) and the real story for me is the fact that I've managed to write a blog post on it every day!

Much like the programme itself, I began with genuine optimism, had a brief surge of excitement when the 'Emily racism row' kicked off, gradually became disorientated by the millions of new housemates, struggled to stay awake as the boredom levels rose and eventually longed for the finish line to appear so I could forget all about it.

Regardless of any claims to the contrary that BB fanatics may make, the fact is this series has been the least viewed and probably least interesting.

With the previous couple of years having been littered with sex, violence and racism, perpetrated by some decidedly unpleasant characters, and following on from the despicable racism that blighted Celebrity Big Brother, Channel 4 were under real pressure to avoid more controversy.

Hence, this year's series was like watching paint dry.

It may be wishful thinking on my part but there is a real feeling that the apparent self-destruction of the show, combined with the fact that the likes of Davina McCall and Dermot O'Leary could both jump ship, will spell the end of Big Brother.

When it started eight years ago, it was new, exciting and genuinely interesting.

Even my mum watched it.

And despite my obvious dislike for the show now, I assure you I was once a major BB fan. Indeed, that is probably why I am so anti-BB now - it's changed beyond recognition.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the show is now completely predictable.

Each year the contestants are clones of the previous year and, however much they argue otherwise, almost all of them go in with a clear agenda to carve out a grubby little life as a Z-list ligger and party-goer once they're evicted.

As with every dying beast, the vultures have been circling for some time and many will take a real pleasure in seeing the back of Big Brother, if this is the end.

But whatever the lasting memory of this year's series is, I think Big Brother, starting with 'Nasty Nick', moving onto the 'Paul and Helen' romance, the 'rise of Brian' (one of the few ex-housemates to carve out a lasting media career), and the year with Kate, Alex and Jade (I'll stop there cos that's when it started going downhill), the show has been a true TV phenomenon and, indeed, was a forerunner for the reality boom.

Nothing lasts forever, though, and this particular gravy train is a matter of yards away from the buffers.

Bye bye BB.

Thanks for the memories...
