    My Wedding Day

    Tuesday, August 28th, 2007, 11:58 am

    Friday 3rd August

Day before the wedding. It was so hectic at our house and we had a house full! What with me and DF (or should that now be DH ;-) ) his parents, his brother, best man and his partner it was manic! Sent DF off to go and pick up CBM whilst I went with DF's parents and my own to reception venue to drop off cake etc. On the way back from the reception venue I had a phone call from the florist to ask if I wanted to go and look at the flowers as her workshop is just up the road from me, so me and all the parents trooped off there. By the time we got back to our house it was even more manic! However it wasn't long before DF turned up with CBM and it was a welcome relief to see her! Decided that seeing as my parents were there that me and CBM would just go over to their house there and then as it was all getting too much (it was only about 2pm at this point!) So said goodbye to DF as it would be the last time I saw him before the wedding.

Got to my parents and me and CBM had a look at dresses etc. Not long after this my other bridesmaid turned up - my 11 year old cousin - she was so excited and wouldn't shut up. Later in the afternoon we popped down to the church to see how the florist was getting on with the flowers. They looked stunning so was really pleased.

We then went back to my parents had tea and a couple of glasses of bubbly. After this me and CBM opened another bottle of wine (why not!) and looked through all our make up etc for the next day. We then had showers and did our nails. I think we must have gone to bed at some point - not that I was drunk, just can't remember! Had a bit of sleep but mostly tossed and turned, however before I knew it, it was time to get up!

    THE BIG DAY!

We had to be at hairdressers for 8am so me, CBM, BM and Mum trooped off there. Me and Mum were finished by about 9.30 - 10 so we went home and left BM's there finishing off, to be picked by my Dad. When we got back the flowers arrived and they were even more stunning than the day before! BM's arrived back and then DF's Dad arrived to pick up button holes and drop off some gifts/cards for me from DF. Made me cry a little when I read what he'd wrote as he's not very sentimental. Photographer then arrived so we decided that we'd best start getting ready. Photographer took loads of piccies of us getting ready, drinking bucks fizz, was all a bit hectic really with us all trying to get changed! Looked out the window at about 12 as there was a lot of commotion outside, realised it was the cars arriving! Everyone was dressed but me! That made me panic a bit so decided to get dress on. It took 4 of us including me, it was hysterical! Photographer took some more pictures then we decided it was time for Mum and BM's to leave so they went and got in their car. So it was just me and Dad left. My Dad's quite a quiet person anyway, but I could tell he was getting quite emotional as he simply didn't (or couldn't!) say anything - he just looked so proud. Dad and I then got in car. The whole street had come out to watch which was lovely - everyone was waving. As we turned out of the street it just hit me and before I knew it I was blubbing, managed to make it stop before I ruined my make up. Held my Dad's hand the whole way there. We got to church well before 1pm so went for a bit of a drive and then came back, by which point everyone had gone inside. Got out of car and BM's were there waiting for me as was the priest. He had a quick chat with me and then we were off! DF was stood at the front beaming from ear to ear - as was I! Can't remember too much of the ceremony, but it all went really well. Didn't cry whilst doing the vows, which I thought I would! It was soon over and we were leaving church, everyone was throwing confetti! Cue more photos and then we got in the car for the long drive up to the wedding reception - so long in fact the car with BM's and Mothers in broke down! Luckily we also had a coach and it was behind it so they were able to jump on there otherwise they'd have been stranded. We were greeted at the reception with drinks and then had to go through the laborious task of photos. My cheeks were hurting by the end of it with all the smiling! After photos we went to the suite where we were having the wedding breakfast, everyone was seated and we were announced into the room as husband and wife! Had a wonderful meal and everyone commented on table decorations etc. After this I decided I needed to freshen up before the evening reception at 7.30 so went to check into room whilst DF and Best Man went to get bags. As soon as I got to room I took dress off for a bit as I couldn't breathe in my underwear so decided I would change it. However my bag didn't turn up so there I sat almost in the nudy for an hour getting mighty peed off as it was nearly time for evening do! It turned up eventually, apparently one of the porters had taken it to the wrong room and it had taken them almost an hour to locate it! Anyway by this time it was well after 7.30 so quickly got sorted and off I went! All the evening guests were there, shame I hadn't been there to greet them! It was soon time for the first dance - Amazed by Lonestar, made me all teary eyed again! Then we boggied the night away.

What a wonderful day and one I'll remember forever. It's true what they say it's over far too soon so savour every moment! It's now 3 weeks since the wedding and I still look at DF (sorry DH!) every day and think wow he's my Husband! A truly wonderful day and I carn't wait to start the next part of our lives together.
