Ella Mae born 11.22 AM Wednesday 3rd October

    Sunday, October 7th, 2007, 12:49 pm

Well after my weeks of moaning Ella Mae arrived at 11.22am yesterday weighing 8lb 3 which is the biggest of all my children. oddly she does not look her weight.

Tuesday night I slept for the first time in weeks. I woke at 6.15, having odd twinges but just thought they were more pains like I had been having for weeks, I never got to find out if my pains were SPD but strangely those pains stopped as the contractions started. After about an hour I realised these pains were defintley contractions although mild.

Phoned hospital about 9.30 and they asked if I felt I was ready to go in, I wasn't sure but decided to go, as at this point i was still convinced contractions would stop again. Got to hospital about 10am. the consultant on duty would not allow me a water birth because baby was number 6 and he considered me high risk. The Mw said she would do the initial assessment and then she would go and fight my case with him. It was 10.35 when she had finished bp etc and did the internal, when she said i don't think I will bother asking for that water birth because it takes 40 minutes to fill and I don't think you have that long. I was shocked because I was waiting for her to say I wasn't dilating but instead she said i was fully dilated and only water sack was keeping baby in.

They broke my waters about 11.10 am, then Ella did a pooh so they tried to put me on the monitor, but before they could get a trace on baby I had given birth with gas and air for the actual delivery.

They kept me in overnight to monitor my blood loss which was fine and now were home, very tired but happy!
