    Benjamin Alexander is here!

Little Ben made his grand entrance on the 3rd September at 5.56pm by emergency c section and weighed 7lb 7oz! He is very tiny I call him my little dinky dot!
It all started about 5am in the morning when I woke up and my waters went with a giant pop and a huge gush all over the bed! OH helped me up out of bed onto the loo all the while I was leaking everywhere, they do not kid when they say it keeps coming and coming! We made our way into hospital soon afterwards where I had another major leakage in the entrance and soaked my skirt (oh the shame!) was so glad it was too early in the morning for other people to see! Contractions started soon afterwards and at first things appeared to go quite well and I was beginning to think the VBAC might happen after all. But it wasn't to be, after being in labour for 10 hours i had only dilated a meagre 3cm, suddenly my contractions became totally unbearable, gas and air did nothing to help, i turned into one of those horrible screaming banshees of the labour ward! Consultant advised a repeat c section to which i agreed but then said there was a wait.. i felt horribly dejected the hour of waiting was the longest hour of my life! I was in complete agony, finally it came around to my turn where I met a very nice anaesthetist, I have no idea what his name is but I shall call him lovely man with spinal! He must have been peed off with me though, I wasn't a very good patient at all! After what seemed an age the spinal was in and the relief was immense! However I didn't seem to react too well to it and was a bit panicky to its effects on my lungs and my heart was racing which worried the theatre staff a fair bit not to mention myself. After what seemed an age, Ben was born, they had to have a good rummage about to get him out which was rather painful. He cried but settled down once they'd cleaned him up and handed him to my OH for a cuddle. The op felt like it dragged on for a long time but the surgeon later told me because I had part of my bladder stuck to my womb from the last section (nice!) and I got my dissolvable sutures which was my assertive request despite the pain :) He also added that Ben was in such a funny position he wouldn't have come out normally anyway so a c section was the right option for us. I'm recovering well but still a bit sore, no more babies for me though, the whole experience has put me off! :)
