A whole month now.....
Well, can't believe it has been a month already since the move. We've had issues with electricity. One Saturday night as I was putting the boys to bed, the lights went out. I didn't think too much of it, as power cuts are quite frequent. But it wasn't back after an hour or so, and I also noticed the neighbours had lights on. In the morning, I called the house manager who came over and called Sevillana Endesa, the electic company, to report a fault. A whole, day, and no one came. Freezer food was getting a bit soggy by now. Next morning, still nothing, so I called the electric company and eventually got through the English speaking department, when the man told me that it wasn't an Endesa problem, but a house problem, and I needed a sparky to climb the pole outside the house. Eventually, at 5.30 pm he came (freezer food ruined by now), without a ladder........once he had located a ladder (about an hour later) and climbed up the pole, he found ALL the fuses had completely burned out, so he replaced them HURRAY!!!!! LIGHTS BACK ON!!!! Luckily I have gas hobs and gas water boilers so it wasn't too horrendous. I also still have dial up for the pc if I need it, so could still get online until the batteries ran out..... It seems we don't have enough wattage going to the house for all the electrics we have, so we are getting a bigger supply installed next week.
We had yet another power cut of sorts a few days later. The lights had been flickering on and off all day, then the TV (Sky) switched off and the Sky box then started smoking!! Yikes!!!
Dp switched everything off and I called house manager again to get the sparky back pronto. He told me he couldn't come till the folllowing evening! We tried the main fuse box and things did come on, but faded and faded till everything was gone. By next morning we had no power at all AGAIN!Luckily I managed to find another sparky, a Brit, so could explain everything to him. He came straight away! He switched the power back on and everything worked !!! Including the Sky box!! He thinks there was a reduction in power from Sevillana which caused the Sky box to 'surge' and overheat. We have since found that the other Sky box and the DVD player don't work. The power cut seems to have been a general one. The british guy also checked all the fuses, the fuse box and the wiring and said they were all good.
Hopefully that's the last of it.
Will write more in another blog!
