Sent to the naughty corner by a 3-yr old

Monday, April 30th, 2007, 10:03 am

I got sent into the naughty corner by Daniel the other day.  I was in a rotten mood, stomping around and shouting at anything and anyone, Daniel asked Daddy what was wrong with Mummy, and he said Mummy was being naughty. So I got frogmarched into the naughty corner and was made to stay for ages (despite my protestations that I had to get their lunch ready!).  It was quite therapuetic actually and it did calm me down!! And cheered me up lots!  So maybe we grown-ups should try the naughty corner/chair/step technique on ourselves as a calming method....

Is there a worse agony?

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007, 8:32 am

Is there anything worse than having a bladder infection (having to wee every few minutes), and having to drive for 45 minutes with no sign of any public toilets? I've had 4 children so also know what labour is like!

This happened yesterday.  I had to go and fetch the boys from nursery (quite a hike) in the throes of the worst of the cystitis.  I honestly thought I would either wet myself or my bladder would burst.  I even took a detour down a little country lane to find a bush to go behind, but firstly, it turned out to be nothing but open fields, and secondly it was like Picadilly bloody Circus there, where did all those cars come from?

By the time I got into town I was driving about 80mph, crying, shouting, screaming and  praying not to wet myself!  I even resorted to the breathing technique used in labour when trying not to push......

I got to the nursery and just ran in to the loo! What relief!!! And then I was faced with the same drive back, this time with 2 tired 3-yr-olds in tow.  Not quite so lucky, I'm afraid as I got to the loo a little ahem......leakage occured.  But that was ok, I was home and could get changed!

The bladder didn't like that, and without going into too much details, things were looking pretty yukky so I rang NHS direct.  Was told to keep drinking loads and see the GP, which I did today.  Am now armed with anti-bios, as the infection turned out to be quite bad, although I do feel better.

Let's hope I'm back to normal tomorrow.  Really missing my wine......

Ouch!!!

Monday, April 23rd, 2007, 11:07 am

I seem to have cystitis or something similar, since about yesterday evening. I haven't had that since my hellraising student days! Am drinking tons of water and weeing every few minutes (or trying to wee......ooooowwwwww!!!).  Starting to feel cold and shivery now too, pleeeeeeeeaaaaase don't let me be ill, I've got too much to do!!!  Hope I'll be ok on the 45 minute drive to fetch the boys from nursery (maybe I'll need to stop and use their potty!!).  And dp is working till late tonight so no one to give me any TLC and help with the boys,  Oh no, woe is meeeeeeeee!!!!!

The most handsome pop star?

Thursday, April 19th, 2007, 6:01 am

Was listening to the radio the other day and they were debating who is the most handsome pop star, past or present.  The following names were mentioned:

David Cassidy, Scott Walker, Ronan Keating, Simon le Bon, Brett Anderson, David Essex, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, Chris Isaak, Bryan Ferry.  There were others I can't remember.

Anyway, thought I'd list my top 5:

Sting, David Bowie (sex on legs even at 60), David Essex (in his younger days), Chris Isaak and Nicky Wire (from the Manics).

I'm sure there are others but those are the ones I thought of.

Anyone got any more to add?

Life on Mars........

Sunday, April 8th, 2007, 4:05 pm

What a fab series that was, who else loved it?  What did you think about the ending. was it what you expected?  Did you understand it ( I must say I was a bit lost, but THINK I get it!!)?  Any theories/comments to add?

Shame it's finished now but I've read there's to be a follow-up set in the 80s called Ashes to Ashes , featuring Gene Hunt and another time-traveller.....not sure how that will work.....
