I must've got home a little udner 24 hours ago and not one of you missed me, now did ya? ;)
It was almost last minute. "I'm going to london do you fancy going?" Hell yeah! why not? twas only an overnighter but it was a good one. The trip down to surrey was easy. No hold-ups as we left after all the rush hours had died down. My mate knows someone from her childhood that has a temporary exhibition at the National Gallery so that's the reason for the visit coupled with meeting up with people inc. her uncle and an old school friend. We had lunch there and it finished with just the two of us wandering about the shop. The weather had turned foul so we didn't loiter once we stepped back out into Trafalgar Sq. and we headed to Waterloo via Charing cross to get the train back to surrey and my motor. Again, avoiding rush hour seemed a good idea although we were slughtly affected by the traffic back up due to an incident in the new malden area. Once we were travelling passed the otehr Hampton Court the trip was plain sailing all the way back.
Coincidentally, my mate spotted a lad she had taught in school a few years ago at Reading Service. Small world, eh? we'd only been talking about such coincidences whilst having lunch that day!
I dropped her off at her sister's as they're off visiting others and i came home.
SPRINGWATCH has started so it's nice catching up on some live nature tho, sometimes, i forget how nature can seem cruel tho it is perfectly natural. It's made me think i should go down to the river and see if i can spot some kingfishers. I believe we may even have otters on the river. My all-time favourite british mammal.
Big Bro has also arrived. The mayhem is with us once again. It's thrown up a house full of females and what an intriguing bunch. Goodness knows what tomorrow will bring lol :D
Today, i vegged and sorted a little bit of recycling and caught up with recordings of programmes

Well, i am not at work for a few days and it's been great thus far ( not looking out of the window at the weather helps lol)
I had a fab lunch out in a fairly well-known Shropshire tavern on friday. And they don't allow smoking in their eating spots. Yipee! i had a chicken kebab and it was fan-tastic! that and a half of one of the local brews. ...brrrp... pardon me ;). That nigt i went to see some local young talented bands who were strutting their stuff including a lad who's something of a sometimes brother-cum-son-cumnephew type bod. (dont ask lol) They're getting better and better.
Saturday(yesterday) i hauled myself out from bed for the Farmer's Market where i buy my fix of (unadulterated) brownies and anything else the WI is selling that catches my eye. Olives, humous and some gorgeous garlic. And then sat and had some Fair Trade coffee with various people i know esp. from the entertainment bunch i belong to.
I got home and was about to trawl the net when a phone call said "Do you wanna come to Hampton Court?". I dived into the shower and elected to drive. This is not the one by the Thames. This one ( at present) doesn't have hordes of american's doing alot of clicking) - but i wish i'd taken my camera. The trees are natures own scultures. I've always loved Cedar of Lebanon's but the ones there are amazing and there's a different one that goes straight up. taller than the Douglas Firs!!!
The food in their tea room/restaurant is amazing and the service came with a natural smile.
Despite the weather, we had a wonderful time. The roses smelled heavenly and it was lovely spotting all the different herbs and others flora in the twin walled gardens. I love victorian gardens. The bees were having a fine time doing their nectar-collecting and pollen-dissemination. Bees are so gorgeous and i have no fear of them. They just don't want to be disturbed as they go about their business.
Shame the day had to finish there. I will be going back there!. We did a quick shop in one of the supermarkets on the way back. I thro my cold stuff in my fridge and then we visited another pal who's going thro some heavy duty illness who couldn't come so we went with a few small gifts to cheer her up and we regailed her with our tales and enthused about our adventure lol.
After running some errands for the yoof of the area i got home just after 10pm to find i'd been invited to a BBQ but i was too late. Never mind. Another time. The weather had deteriorated by then anyway.
Today has been a day of slovenliness ;D

Yes i know she's a piece of wood. Yes i know she's not human. Yes i know she's an inanimate object. But, as someone with a love for the tall shops of the world, god forbid that i should be confronted with whoever may've been behind the 'suspicious' fire that has ripped out the very heart and soul of Cutty Sark. Her history is tied in with many humans histories. Brought nations together. Shown the world there is another world away from their own territories. She braved storms and the very worst that Neptune and Poseidon could throw at her. Brought tea to this country which has become something of a nourisher of souls for those in need.
I hope they find the fkrs and throw the book at them. May what they have done come back at them three times over. Thank goodness many of the spars and rigging etc had already been removed due to the long-term renovation project. I hope that the priceless collection of figureheads were also not in there.
It's about time people of this country learned responsibility and were shown that when they don't consequences are to be had.
Bl**dy furious would be an understatement
In case anyone wants to help with a few pennies here's her home website

Life hasn't been ultra busy. I've been at work
The gardening has gone on hold. Or, i can't be bothered. Let's hope for a few days of dry whilst i am not working and woooosh!... i may get outdoors again....
I have cropped the rhubarb and mum has benefitted. It's good stuff and still growing like wildfire.
Hayfever sufferers must be relieved by the rain. It's damped down the rapeseed which has been prolific this year. It's growing along verges where you can't even see a rapefield. And the govt. says GM wont spread!!! yeah right :;rolling eye moment::: What has also gone up overnight are thenumber of roadworks on the A and B roads surrounding here. On all sides of the border. Those red, amber and green bulbs are lit up all over the place.
We had some wind around the area at the start of the week (please don't blame the comsumption of beans by me!) and it bowled a tree over. Large blighter too. Fortunately, no one was trundling along that part of the road at the time. It went right across the road so it was blocked for quite a while. It even made the local travel news too. Coooerrr lol.
The smoking ban has been around for a while in the Principality. It's great. And i know many a smoker who is happy for it to exist so it's not just us non's who appreciate it.

I have gathered it together in a large clump near my backdoor.
Now a smallish quandry. Any takers?
it has to travel through my house to get to the car so i can take it down to the recycling bins. i do not have giant plastic bags. i do not have giant bins. but i need to get it to the car with as little litterng as possible. Both in the house and in the car. i still have some from my previous journey but i ahven't had any passengers in the back since or there might've been a few squeals lol.
I only have to think about gardening and the clouds come a-rolling over. I have time to do things. I even have some inclination but not when it's flippin wet!!! Bring back the sun.
Puss is unhappy. I drowned the nape of her neck in anti worm stuff yesterday. It's made that part of her black fur go greyish-white. Tomorrow or sunday morning i shall be Frontlining her. I shall do it just before going out or when i go visiting so she'll be over it by the time i return- i hope :D
hard to believe i had arrived in manchester this time 2 weeks ago. Oh happy memories.
