The Dragon Returns Home

Monday, April 30th, 2007, 12:25 pm

That'd be me then.

Well, after a dose of whiskey i may be breathing fire but, before  i tell you about the w/e, you should know that ALL of Manchester was standing when I left!  tho the marshamallows were a treat!... oooops! ::wink::

remember children! never play with matches  but, as we'll have seen, the Trumptons ... er... i mean the Fire & Rescue Service have been called into action on a grand scale in manchester city centre....

and are currently tackling a quite vicious blaze.

The nearest we got to it was a nibble or two at Wetherspoons!

That'll teach 'em not to introduce a No Smoking policy just yet!

And the w/e. How easy was it to get there!!! Very !,and then i lolloped in a westerly direction towards where i had feeling where the hotel'd be.

It wasn't hard to find and we all started homing in as time progressed

What began as a cup of tea ended as a Screaming Orgasm! I jest not! I avoided Sex on the Beach and the Long Hot Comfortable screw and was left with a hint of a corona (that'd be the sun burning my face lol - not that i'm a lush!!!)

The Thai place on Portland St didn't know what had hit them when 7 hungry birds landed in the plush surroundings but they managed and the food was scrummy... and then some! ( and hot, in my case OOOPS)

The area was beginning to BOP around the Village and we were all having a fine time. More people game and we wobbled our way between some clubs before realising that our incorrigable Iberian pair would be coming in... sorry... coming in TO piccadilly so a pile of us belted up to the station with a minute to spare.

There seems to be a blur and hazy memory at this point cos i know i stayed up til almost all  the rest had gone/come to bed.I was twining with gemseywemsey and she invited a pile of hungry chicken and chip-eating birds back. I'm not convinced that McTucky's is a sensible option at 0215! but the mayo'd hips went down a treat and the chicken was quite tasty too... tho Gemseywemsey suffered a tad the next morning!

The night life didn't die down until about 0330 and sleep was finally come.

Part 2 after i've had supper etc

A Gooner in Mancsland

Thursday, April 26th, 2007, 5:05 pm

that'll be me :0)

But before that, i have lobbed more bits and bobs intothe green recycling bin especially moss.

I left the path far too long so borrowed a hard broom from work that brought so much up.  spent less that an hour doing bits and pieces and there is still much to do.

My hankerchief looks like i haven't touched it. rain and sun make a great combo for helping grass grow higher than an elephant's eye! ( name the musical??)Unless i find time tomorrow morning it will ahve to wait until next week. This is where i wish i could pay the grass cutting fairies a few mushrooms to do the job.

So the gardening saga gets put on hold whilst i spend money living it up in the land of a rather well-known football team. Yes! manchester city! heehee. I went to college there many years ago and have only been back fleetingly other than short stops out in Didsbury. I am meeting up with pals for a dirty weekend of ribaldry. Well, one can hope! We're staying quite centrally and it won't feel right not being a student. I wonder if they still have canadian charcoal pits? i ahve fond memories of visiting the one in Withington after Back to the Future on at the Cinema and a couple of bevvies at The Withington Ale House - now called something else.

I wonder if i could persuade the gang to pop down to Rusholme for a curry. there's nowt like the original stuff. I'd travel up Wilsmslow Road on the bus and gaze in through the windows of the shops and the beautiful array of colourful sweets they had on display.

A world away from home. i was out in the works motor with another worker and we saw a calf being born. Nature just gets on with everything whether or not mankind is around to control or not!

Back online, Monday unless i have time Sunday eve.

The power of tools

Sunday, April 22nd, 2007, 1:18 pm

Yes it sounds like i have gone mad

FOOLS! that happened a lonng time ago ;0)

So, today. Oh no, .... start again

Last night. Excellent performance by the boys of hoover and there's nowt like a lovely hug from a hairy accordionist :D. Shame about the uncomfortable chairs but i guess they're slightly less uncomfortable than pews.

Today. There i was floating about the internet via this contraption and i thought i really must do some more garden stuff. The look of determination would've been enough to bowl anyone over. As it was, they were already bowled over by the fact that i was out from hibernation and doing 'gardening' as my neighbour remarked as she passed by. She meant nowt horrid by it just that she knows i am not a fan of gardening. I lined up the extension (with cut out thingy attached) and connected the Trimmer and went for the blue fern out front. OMG! what a mess tho easier and more friendly than leylandii to tackle. And i took some heavy weight roses branches with me. Honestly, i don't have a rose bush. I have a rose tree!!!! NO JEST! Roses are lovely to look at but you really have to be dedicated to have them, imo. You can't just plonk the b*ggers in and leave them to look after themselves. I have inherited some odd plantage of which previous occupants or neighbours are guilty! Sorry but i loathe leylandii, regardless of the privacy it gives.

So, a whole heap of blue fern is at my feet and it sits right by the pavement. I thought people would be having to do deviations around my flora before long as it was spilling over so wildly. Mind you, the local cat and wildlife population love me and my gardening ideas. IE. DON'T lol! I managed to bag up one black bag's worth and popped it in the car. I went to the bacl garden and rescused the other black bag i'd filled yesterday and sat that alongside. I still had a heap of fern so black bagged my car seat and throw most of the rest on there before heading for the recycling centre that has a greenery bin there. Why don't people take notice or why do they ignore sings? It says in big letters, in english and welsh, NO PLASTIC BAGS but someone had lobbed a load of grass cuttings and not rescued the bag. GRRRRR! The lass in the SPAR observed "Have you been gardening?". Methinks the grass and fern up and down my arms , on my clothes and in my hair may have been the give away. Waddya reckon? I promise i did change my t shirt and spray myself over with some deo to make me vaguely presentable to civilised society - m'dear-!

I still have the rose tree to tackle. That's gonna be a big and prickly job and i may need a saw to take on the job. i also need to tackle my neighbours fir tree that is hanging over at the front. I asked if it was ok and she said 'of course'. COOL! Think of the destruction i could undertake :D Does anyone have a chain saw? Never mind the destruction that already exists within the household. housework? pah! why that's for prissies... innit? ;)

If i have time before work tomorrow i may have another bash at the hankerchief of a lawn. It's still took long for my push-pull. And i also need to tackle the leylandii again. i will need to stand on a chair or a ladder on uneven ground. Should i write my will now? :D

 anyone  care for some rhubarb?

Oh, this aint mine. Mine is green and twice the size lol

sTrimming work

Saturday, April 21st, 2007, 11:48 am

I really should be more.... organised.

Leaving the hedge (the neighbours leylandii borders my hankerchief) for as long as i have was insane! Even now, it ain't anywhere near finished but i have so many trimmings! and they're no good for mulching/composting etc so i shall see if a pal of mine would be willing to lob them on her bonfire. I don't think the recycling centre will miss it. And the hankerchief has been strimmed but needs doing again. It may be a matter of borrowing a hover as my push-pull doesn't like things too high.

The rhubarb's been trying to get itself pulled since early january.I finally grabbed the larger sticks and have just had some stewed with a pile of sugar and custard. You know what? yummy yummy! so it looks like i shall be wafting sticks under peoples noses and hoping they take them. This could be a long summer of rhubarb rhubarb and more rhubarb. I know i do stuff on stage but this getting ridiculous!

It's a good way to get fit but i tend to enjoy other peoples endeavours in the garden.

It's going out time tonight. Or will be just before 1900 so i shall need a good scrub up soon. As designated driver i better avoid the red stuff. i shall snaffle a glass upon my return!

My hankerchief...

Thursday, April 19th, 2007, 12:27 pm

...of a garden needs defoliating!

Serious things are afoot as i finally picked up a new strimmer And it's not a load of Bosch but it is one lol. AND, a CD unit for all my 1000s of musical collections. Plus a rucksack for future travels around the lands. Coo-er but the money went quickly but i've had some decent deals and it was a lovely day to be and about. I won't mention that i indulged in a macdonalds... oops! i have!

does it help that i had an orange juice rather than one of their wonder shakes? lol

xx

that it were this simple!
