Leon on course to land top spot

Thursday, December 20th, 2007, 5:53 am

It should have been me!Despite being cast as something of a bad guy for daring to beat Rhydian in the X Factor final, Leaon Jackson appears on track to land the Christmas No1.

The 18-year-old is currently leading the race with his track When You Believe although, sadly, such is the nature of the Christmas chart these days, he could have done a sponsored silence and taken top spot.

Come to think of it that would have been far more entertaining.

Meanwhile, Radio 1's decision to temporarily censor parts of The Pogues' Fairytale of New York has led to a surge in sales of the song and it could climb as high as No3.

And somewhere on a beach in Barbados Simon Cowell is stroking his man boobs with one hand and counting his winnings with the other.

Happy Christmas!

Beyonce and Jay-Z get wed

Thursday, December 20th, 2007, 5:41 am

Beyonce and Jay-Z at their weddingBeyonce Knowles and Jay-Z have married in secret, according to reports.

There has been no confirmation as yet, partly because, erm, it was supposed to be a secret.

Jay-Z (real name Clive Smith) is thought to have proposed to Beyonce (that's her real name) during a luxury holiday in Cannes earlier this year.

Reports suggest the pair had personal inscriptions tattooed on their fingers during the 'intimate' ceremony in Paris.

The inscription read 'Beyonce, always and fore

Capello gets Posh seal of approval

Thursday, December 20th, 2007, 5:15 am

Posh SpiceThe last few days has seen many a column inch filled with speculation, supposition and general nonsense about whether Fabio Capello will be any good at being the England football manager.

But all those journos needn't have bothered as Victoria Beckham - the authority on everything  - has put us all straight on the issue.

She said: 'I think it's great that Capello is the new England manager.

'David has a lot of respect for him.'

Hmmm.

I wonder if he will have 'a lot of respect for him' when Mr Capello decides he is overrated and over the hill?

Britney's younger sister with child

Thursday, December 20th, 2007, 4:53 am

Jamie Lynn SpearsBritney Spears' mum Lynne has 'delayed' the publication of her book on how to be a good parent.

As if Britney herself wasn't proof enough that Lynne isn't necessarily qualified to hand out such advice, her youngest daughter, Jamie Lynn, has announced she is pregnant at the age of 16.

Jamie Lynn said: 'It was a shock for both of us, so unexpected. I was in shock and so was he.

'I can't say it was something I was planning but it's something I have to deal with and I'm looking forward to being the best mom I can be.'

Unfortunately for Jamie Lynn's boyfriend, 19-year-old Casey Aldridge, he may not get the opportunity to be the best dad in the world as he faces a possible 10-year prison sentence for having under-age sex (the age of consent in Louisiana is 17).

Meanwhile, Lynne's parenting guide is on the back burner...

Leon's mum defends Leon

Wednesday, December 19th, 2007, 5:38 am

LoserThe rumblings of discontent over the X Factor result are continuing and now things have got really serious.

Leon's mum has got involved.

Mrs Jackson (Wendy) has been sticking up for her son after a number of people claimed they could not get through to vote for Rhydian.

She said: 'I think it's just a lot of rubbish because on Saturday night I had a lot of people texting me they couldn't get through on the lines for Leon - the lines were absolutely jammed.

'I even had one person tell me they had tried 300 times to get through to Leon on the landline and they couldn't get through.'

Meanwhile, ITV has insisted in a statement that the result was fair and there was no fault with the voting system.

My advice?

Get over it.
