Kelly come dancing
One of my favourite reality/talent shows starts again next week but various issues during the build-up to Strictly Come Dancing have threatened to overshadow the grand opening.
Firstly, producers appear to have fallen victim to the 'Big Brother' factor - that being if you have a really successful formula, the best thing is to change it.
And so, they have decided that the results part of this year's series will be shown on a Sunday while the judges will have the final say on who is booted out each week.
And it would appear there is an element on unease among certain contestants about how much coverage Kelly Brook has had in the run-up to the show.
It has to be said, at times you would be forgiven for thinking she was the only female contestant this year judging by the prominence of her role in pre-programme marketing.
Fellow contestant, Eastenders actor Matt Di Angelo, is quoted as saying: 'Every time I open a paper she's pictured in a skimpy outfit and there's just a few lines about everyone else.
'Judging by the coverage she is getting, Kelly is going to win. Everything is always about her.'
To add weight to such claims, Brook has been paired with self-styled 'ballroom bad boy' (if there can be such a thing) Brendan Cole.
A BBC spokesperson said: 'Kelly's picture has been used by lots of media outlets because she is very photogenic but that is not our decision.'
Indeed, there are plenty more glamourous gals in this year's contest - Gabby Logan, Penny Lancaster and Stephanie Beecham among them.
As for the men, Logan's husband, former rugby player Kenny, is taking part as is Blue Peter presenter Gethin Jenkins, former footballer John Barnes and Corrie killer Brian Capron.
And producers always throw in a middle-aged bloke to feel sorry for/laugh at and this year's dead cert to be booted first is shiny-headed former snooker player Willie Thorne.
