Usual suspects prepare for Big Brother
The eighth series of Big Brother is almost upon us and, despite reports that the show will seek to tone down following a raft of complaints during previous years, it would seem the contestants will again resemble something of a freakish rabble.
As is always the case, reports have emerged giving an indication of who the next generation of professional nobodies will be.
And it makes familiar reading.
We will apparently see a member of the Women's Institute pitched in with a political protester, a former lap dancer and the relative of a Premiership footballer, among others.
They will all be ushered into the house in the oh so glamourous surroundings of Borehamwood (fittingly just a stone's throw from where the Jeremy Kyle show is filmed) on Wednesday evening.
The Blabber will, of course, be following their every move and we expect more fireworks following the controversy that has dogged recent series.
The show will kick off with an apology from Channel 4 over its handling of January's Celebrity Big Brother, during which it was alleged that eventual winner Shilpa Shetty was racially bullied.
However, five minutes staring at the gormless grin of Davina McCall will surely make everyone forget about such issues and focus our minds on the poor, unfortunate wannabes who have volunteered to be ridiculed and sneered at this time around.
