Yoko hails 'incredible' Mills

Thursday, May 31st, 2007, 6:18 am

Heather Mills has received support from an unlikely source - John Lennon's widow Yoko Ono.

Mills was widely regarded as public enemy number one following her separation from Sir Paul McCartney but she has doggedly clawed her way back to popularity over recent months.

Her performances on US TV show Dancing with the Stars proved a massive hit and Yoko admits she has been impressed.

She said: 'That was incredible. Making herself a heroine with that ballroom dancing stuff in America.

'She did it single-handedly. That's difficult for anyone to do.'

Nicole: skinny girls only

Thursday, May 31st, 2007, 6:12 am

Nicole Richie added a bizarre and frankly worrying message to invitations sent out for a Memorial Day party she hosted last week.

Richie, 25, who has prompted concern in the past for her waif-like appearance, sent out an email to friends ahead of the bash.

It read: 'No girls over 100 pounds allowed in. Start starving yourself now. See you all then!!!'

A spokesman for Nicole later claimed the invitation was written in jest.

Yeah, very funny.

Goodbye Les

Thursday, May 31st, 2007, 6:07 am

I'm sure I'm not the only one who shed a tear or two this morning when the devastating news broke that 'Sir' Les Battersby will no longer grace our screens of an evening.

Yes, the model father and figure of lust for women (and maybe a few men) up and down the country has been given his marching orders by Coronation Street bosses.

Actor Bruce Jones was suspended by the soap for reportedly going on an '11-pint bender', before openly branding colleagues 'those w*****s on the Street'.

According to The Mirror, Jones looked 'drawn, gaunt and bewildered' when he was given his P45. Still in character then.

Corrie producer Steve Frost said in a statement: 'We have reached the end of the road with storylines for Les. We wish Bruce all the best.'

Jones, 54, is remaing upbeat, and said: 'It's time to move on. I have already had some very exciting offers.'

But Celebrity Big Brother doesn't start again till January Bruce...

Usual suspects prepare for Big Brother

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007, 5:29 am

The eighth series of Big Brother is almost upon us and, despite reports that the show will seek to tone down following a raft of complaints during previous years, it would seem the contestants will again resemble something of a freakish rabble.

As is always the case, reports have emerged giving an indication of who the next generation of professional nobodies will be.

And it makes familiar reading.

We will apparently see a member of the Women's Institute pitched in with a political protester, a former lap dancer and the relative of a Premiership footballer, among others.

They will all be ushered into the house in the oh so glamourous surroundings of Borehamwood (fittingly just a stone's throw from where the Jeremy Kyle show is filmed) on Wednesday evening.

The Blabber will, of course, be following their every move and we expect more fireworks following the controversy that has dogged recent series.

The show will kick off with an apology from Channel 4 over its handling of January's Celebrity Big Brother, during which it was alleged that eventual winner Shilpa Shetty was racially bullied.

However, five minutes staring at the gormless grin of Davina McCall will surely make everyone forget about such issues and focus our minds on the poor, unfortunate wannabes who have volunteered to be ridiculed and sneered at this time around.
