It was billed as a big day for Kate Moss, with the Croydon-born model due to launch her new clothing range at Oxford Street's TopShop store. Some of the gathered crowd had queued since the early hours for the chance to get their hands on garments ranging in price from £12 to £175 and to catch a glimpse of Kate.
But if they'd have blinked they may well have missed her as, after pouting in the window for a mere 12 seconds, she turned on her heels for a much-needed cigarette and coffee break.
Some suggested the manequins flanking Moss had displayed rather more charisma as a line of 'approved photographers' snapped away frantically.
Even some other 'celebrities' present seemed unimpressed by Moss' fleeting appearance, Peaches Geldof looking particularly non-plussed. But then does she ever look any different?
The episode clearly took its toll on a 'tired' Moss, who was later seen being helped out of a London restaurant by Philip Green, the tycoon who paid her a fee rumoured to be £3 million to design the clothing range.

Former Spice Girl Mel B is set to tell about her relationship with Eddie Murphy on a US TV show.
Mel, who has been in dispute with Murphy over whether daughter Angel Iris Murphy is his, is reportedly on the verge of signing a big-money deal with a major US netork.
In the latest twist to the saga, it is thought Mel will demand Murphy pay her £3,000 a month in child support, as well as a lump sum for her to buy a house in Los Angeles.
A 'source' told Star magazine: 'Mel means business. 
'She's in talks with a big TV network in the States, but in the meantime she has been advised to take a softly, softly approach.'
Mel, who was dumped by Murphy when five months pregnant, is even rumoured to be considering revealing the results of crucial DNA tests live on television.

Lindsay Lohan - practical joker or cunning thief?
Perez Hilton is reporting that Lindsay's good pal Kelly Osbourne had her purse stolen at a GQ party on Saturday night and Kelly's friends are saying that Lindsay herself swiped the bag!
'Kelly is so upset and angry,' says Kelly's bud. 'We're all almost certain that Lindsay stole the purse or threw it in a garbage bin. She thinks doing stuff like that is funny!'
They say Kelly is offering a reward for the return of her belongings, but we're pretty sure that's not why Lindsay took it.

Okay, so who's surprised that Leonardo Dicaprio likes to date models? Nobody, right? Leo had a nice long relationship with Victoria's Secret model Gisele, and has most recently been dodging engagment/baby rumours with current steady, Bar Refaeli.
But Bar wasn't the model on his arm late Friday night at Marquee. Onlookers say that James Blunt's ex Petra Nemcova and Leo were quite the cozy twosome at the club. 
'He looked like he was all over her,' says a witness. 'They were together from before 12:30 to around 2:30. He was holding her waist and touching her arm. Also, he was smoking up a storm - chain-smoking, almost.'
The spy felt the need to express that, although the pals were, ahem, friendly, nothing indicated that Leo was messing around behind Bar's back.
Uh-huh. Then why tell the story at all, big mouth?

Boy George has been arrested after a male escort reportedly claimed that the eighties pop star chained him to a wall and prevented him from leaving his flat.
According to a report in The Mirror, Auden Carlsen, 28, visited George's flat to 'pose for photos'. It is then claimed he was then shackled to a wall by George and another man before struggling free and escaping into the street.
According to the newspaper, Carlsen said he met George on an online gay dating service but only agreed to visit the flat on a 'modelling assignment'.
Carlsen is quoted as saying: 'George handcuffed me to a hook by the bed as they held me down. I was convinced I was going to die.'
Last Year the former Culture Club lead singer was ordered to do community service in New York after he said a rent boy tried to rob him and police subsequently found cocaine in his apartment.
