My 'baby' learnt to ride his bike today, without stabilisers! He's almost 4yrs 5 months old and today he did it!
Unfortunately my camera battery was flat, so I couldn't video/take a photo (bad Mummy that I am), so I will do that tomorrow (assuming he can still do it)!

Go ahead and mention my child,
The one who died you know.
Don't worry about hurting me further,
The depth of my pain doesn't show.
Don't worry about making me cry.
I'm already crying inside.
Help me to heal by releasing
The tears that I try to hide.
I'm hurt when you just keep silent,
Pretending he didn't exist.
I'd rather you mention my child,
Knowing that he has been missed.
You asked me how I was doing.
I say "pretty good" or "fine."
But healing is something ongoing.
I feel it will take a lifetime.

Mother, of Mother, come shake out your cloth
empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
hang out the washing and butter the bread,
sew on a button and make up a bed.
Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She's up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.
Oh, I've grown shiftless as Little Boy Blue
(lullaby, rockabye, lullaby loo).
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
(pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo).
The shopping's not done and there's nothing for stew
and out in the yard there's a hullabaloo
but I'm playing Kanga and this is my Roo.
Look! Aren't his eyes the most wonderful hue?
(lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).
The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow,
for children grow up, as I've learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep.
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.

DS#2 went for his playdate on Tuesday and despite not saying a word to his friend's Mummy, had a great time. According to his friend's Mummy it was the 'easiest playdate ever' - even taking into account that he was too shy to go to the toilet and wet himself!!
Yesterday DS#1 was meant to go to his friend's house after school, but just before lunch his friend had to go home (a problem with his eyes, which seems to have been an allergic reaction to the grass they were playing on at playtime - sorted quickly with piriton at home, but by then too late to go back to school and go ahead with the playdate). DS#1 was a bit disappointed, but we baked fairy cakes after school instead so he was OK. Hopefully it will be rescheduled for next Thursday.

Both my boys have play dates next week, and both are going alone!!
DS#2 is going to his wee friend's house after nursery (he will go for lunch and a play and then meet me back at the school at 3.15pm). He is very excited. It's his first big boy play date - ie going to a friend's house without Mummy!
DS#1 is going to his wee friend's house after school on Thursday and will probably stay for tea. He starts full days next week, so I hope he's not too tired after school. I don't want to inflict a tired grumpy child onto someone else! No doubt he'll be the perfect cherub child while he's there and turn on the grumps when I pick him up!
I'm not sure what I'm going to do with myself... got a haircut booked for Thursday afternoon (will be taking DS#2 with me - couldn't get an appointment for a morning when he's at nursery). I might have to do some housework, although playing my harp has become the perfect excuse not to ;-)
