I'm Going to Meet the Queen!!

Thursday, May 31st, 2007, 7:28 am

Oh my word!

Colin and I are both Boys Brigade officers in separate companies (we met through training). All the companies in the district form the battalion who meet once a month and provide training for officers and competitions for boys. Colin and I take a lot to do with battalion - I am the child protection co-ordinator, Colin has about 5 different roles, we help organise training etc so we really do a lot!

Anyway, every year the Battalion get two tickets for the Queen's garden party at Hollyrood Palace in Edinburgh. Because our district is SO big, the tickets usually go to someone important who is retiring after 50 years service etc! But this year they have nominated Colin and I! The president said that after the year we've had and the dedication we've shown we deserve it. (The president also organised for a £200 donation towards Emily's headstone back last year).

So how cool is that!!? Only thing is - I was soooo looking forward to getting a new outfit but we need to wear our uniforms! lol.

Damsel in Distress!

Thursday, May 24th, 2007, 12:17 pm

How embarrasing . . . .well my plan of leaving work early didnt happen - left after my usual finishing time but i expect that now! So had to go to Coatbridge to collect a bag i left on the bus we took the boys brigade on at the weekend (yes i know, i had made sure all the boys took all their things off the bus and it was silly me who left a bag!) so I was absolutely shattered and dying to get home so maybe not driving as carefully as i should have been . . . .driving along a road and a car indicated to go right and i though "hey, i'm invincible, i can squuze past him". . . .well apparently not - i smacked my car off the kerb (is that a scottish word??) so violently i thought i was gonna hit the car beside me!! A few yards along the tyre made that all too familiar grinding noise . . .yes . . . in my bid to squeeze past the car I had ripped a massive hole in my tyre and dented my wheel . . . . and do i know how to change a tyre????

So i phoned Colin who was at a conference in our local hospital all day so had to call my brother who arrived with his work partner (also my friend's husband) and both of them found it all very amusing!

Cue me standing at the side of the road with a spare tyre sitting out, twisting a car jack around trying ot work out which way up it goes!!

Anyway, my lovely brother fixed it all for me and i now know how to change a tyre! yay!!

I am absolutely shattered!!! Have had less than 4 hours sleep in between shifts and have a meeting tonight so cant even relax on the couch! I will be having the rest of my bottle of Rose tonight - i think i deserve it!

Oh the joys of being a ditzy blonde!

I hate shift work!!!!

Thursday, May 24th, 2007, 1:25 am

It is 6am . . . .I start work in an hour so about to leave . . . didn't finish till 11pm last night so I have had about 4 1/2 hours sleep if i'm lucky . . . . . shift work sucks!!

On a plus - I am finishing at 10.30am this morning but have LOADS to do!! It is my boys brigade display tomorrow night so have to write my speech, upstairs is a tip so need to do something with that and need to work on my business plan some more.

If I get all that done then I think I will relax with a well deserved glass (or bottle!!) of wine!

Still waiting on af to show - took a test today but it was faulty . . .what a waste of urine!!! lol

 Have a good day everyone

Oh the irony!

Friday, May 18th, 2007, 6:54 pm

After trailing around Glasgow ALL day on Wednesday until my feet were falling of trying to find a wedding outfit with no success . . . . I popped into Tesco today on my way home from work and picked up a fab red linen dress and red sandals for less than £30! Typically ironic!!

My week in Words

Thursday, May 17th, 2007, 7:00 am

Well, yesterday I went into town shopping to try to find something to wear for a wedding on Saturday but couldn't find anything! I want something that covers by tummy and covers the tops of my arms  . . . . so that tends to suggest a tent! Couldn't find anything so just wearing a dress I already had! I walked around all day in stilletto heals and ended up in so much pain that i thought i wasnt gonna make it back to my car!! So had to buy wee pumps which are sooooooooo comfy!! It was chucking it down with rain though so my feet were drenched!

It was the Espanol vs Seville game at Hampden  yesterday so the atmosphere in Glasgow was amazing! So many spniards! In fact - one came up to me randomly and siad "aii aii aii!!" and went to spank my ass! ha ha ha ha!! I just looked at him . . . .you don't do that in Glasgow!!

Colin got his new car yesterday . . it's realllly nice! I want it for me!! lol. It's an 07 plate Seat Ibiza withjust delivery mileage on it and it drives great! Actually got it to save us some money as his other car was costing a fortune. It is only to do him until the nursery is up and running then we can afford to get him (and me!!) something better.

Working 2-10 tonight then 7-11 tomorrow. Tomorrow night is our district Boys Brigade Review so a big night but i've managed to avoid it and just doing teas etc this year afterwards!

We have the wedding on Saturday in Edinburgh then Sunday we are taking the Boys (boys brigade) to Hampden Park for the stadium tour - they are really looking forward to it!

Wont be around on Ivillage much this weekend so apologies in advance!

Hope everyone has a fab weekend.
