...of fictional characters.
They have so much freedom to do pretty much whatever they like. They can suddenly burst into existence, fade away, travel at the speed of light or drop dead suddenly should the plot (writer) desire it.
I'd love to write, but this jealousy stops me from finishing the first page (that and being disorganised).
Still, the simplicity of non-existence, except in other people's imagination is so desirable.
Maybe it's a deep fundamental flaw in my personality, maybe it's a certain dissatisfaction with the status quo, but I can't help feeling it when I get involved in a good book, a good film or even a marketing figurehead.
Oh No! I want to be Snap, Crackle and Pop.

Yes, it's that time again when I'm older than I was before now.
I don't feel much older than I dis yesterday, but then I do feel a little older than I did last year on this day - but then again I was on holiday this time last year, so I did feel more relaxed, which makes you feel younger?
But...I digress....it's my birthday today and I'm older than I was before which means that I've got more white hairs in my beard, I've got less hairs on my head and more hairs in places they shouldn't be, why does hair do that - migrate for the winter years?

Good weather on Thursday, gloriously hot on Friday - then rain, rain, rain for the whole of the bank holiday.
How does it know?

Well, I finished it, despite some horrendous conditions.
The first day riding from Eastbourne to Brighton was really hard with strong headwinds on some really exposed areas of the Downs. My muscles certainly didn't like it very much - I cramped up at around the 25th mile and watched while my calves spasmed out of control. But I got back on and my legs remembered how to work.
I think I started off a bit quick, but managed to get to the end of the day in the first 20 odd. It was certainly a relief to be able to come home, eat some fish and chips and get some sleep.
2nd day was similarly windy from Brighton to Midhurst but it was longer - and with more climbing.
Mind you, I felt pretty good at the end of the day so an evening in the pub was in order.
So, last day...and the easiest - just 29 miles in the pouring rain - but at least the wind died down.
I actually enjoyed most of the riding on the last day despite being cold and having so much grit in my eyes I couldn't see properly.
105 miles, 3 days, it was hard work.
I'm glad it's over and even gladder I finished it.
