I'm iVillage.co.uk's beauty editor. I wouldn't be surprised if the post office had to assign me my own personal postman to deliver all the lovely lotions and potions that I'm sent to try. And yet I still get excited every time a new lipgloss lands on my desk. It's a tough job, but somebody's got to do it.

Be bikini beautiful

Thursday, April 26th, 2007, 6:49 am

The early arrival of the Spring sunshine has got me thinking about my summer holidays. I'm not a sunworshiper - I prefer to spend my holidays sipping sangria in the shade, but there's no escaping the need to pack a bikini for those lazy days reading trashy novels by the pool.

I've signed up for iVillage's Be Bikini Beautiful challenge to get me into gear for bikini season. I'm hoping the motivational tips and group support will keep me on track. Plus there's loads of great advice from the best fake tanners to the hottest hair removal products in town.

If you're cringing at the thought of squeezing into your two piece, you should certainly sign-up. What have you got to lose (apart from a few lbs)?

Stop the sag

Monday, April 23rd, 2007, 7:45 am

A few months ago I was invited to try a GANKIN facial massage by SUQQU at Selfridges. Their massage technique is all about improving the memory of your skin. They suggest just three minutes massage morning and night can dramatically improve the look of your skin. I have to admit, the results were like a non-surgical face lift. Eyebags were gone and my skin looked plump and healthy. Of course, you have to keep it up. I almost always forget to do my twice daily massage using their special musculate face cream, but I'm sure if I did, the results would last longer than the 24 hours they did when I tried it.

If you're interested in learning the technique and are able to get to Selfridges over the next couple of days (25th and 26th April) they are offering a two hour session to show you how to achieve 'total facial rejuvenation' for just £15 (half the normal price and redeemable against any purchase on the day) plus some great freebies from the range. Call 020 7318 3538 to reserve your place.

Le petit pedicure

Thursday, April 12th, 2007, 3:29 pm

The arrival of Spring has certainly put the same into my step. I dug out my flip flops at the weekend and then hurriedly put them away again after seeing the state of my feet which, having been swaddled in socks and boots for the past six months were looking dry and nasty. I'll book myself in for a proper pedicure next week, but my quick fix DIY pedicure worked pretty well so I thought I'd share it with you...

 DIY Petit Pedicure

Remove any old nail varnish using a cotton pad soaked in a non ace-tone remover like Zoya's Remove+ (£9.95)

Soak feet in a  bowl of warm water. Adding some Epsom salts to the water will act as a gentle antiseptic.  You can use an exfoliating foot scrub for that extra clean feeling too.

Using a foot file gently file away any dead skin in the heel and balls of your feet, but don't get carried away - over filing can actually encourage hard skin.

Dry your feet off with a soft towel and clip toenails while they're still soft. Cut straight across and file in one direction across the nail.

Give your feet a mini massage using a rich cream. I'm using L'Occitane's lavender foot cream at the moment, but Q'tica's Intense Foot Repair Balm (£15.95) is good for reparing severly damaged and irritated skin. If your feet are in good shape you can get away with using a hand cream - Attrixo's enriched moisturising cream with camomile is a real bargain (£1.79 for 50ml).

Remove any excess cream for the toenails and paint your toes a pretty Spring shade. I'm quite into orange from the Zoya Professional Lacquer range at the moment but you can't go wrong with classic pinks or deep reds.

Or try a DIY French pedi

And there you go! Happy feet indeed.
