You can't tell from the picture of me on this blog, but I am a spectacle wearer. Have been since the age of 9. I've had a whole array of glasses ranging from some complete shockers (I blame not being able to see when choosing my frames) through to the chunky black rimmed DKNY's that I currently sport. I've had an on off relationship with contact lenses too which seems to be more off than on these days. If I wear them for the whole day I wind up looking tired and my eyes feel scratchy. Not a good look.
Tomorrow - all that changes (hopefully). I've been hearing all about the joys and life-changing capabilities of laser eye surgery for years, but up until now, I've been too scared to try it. But, after extensive(ish) research and encouragement from friends and family who've had it done, I've decided to go for it. My appointment's at Optical Express Laser Clinic in Harley Street is scheduled for 1pm. Of course, I'm nervous about having my eyes sliced open. Who wouldn't be? But my excitment way out weighs my nerves. Wish me luck everyone.
I'll let you know how I get on.

I reckon I have a pretty positive body image. Sure, my body's not perfect, but I don't own a pair of bathroom scales and I've never seriously considered having anything nipped or tucked. My positive outlook is mainly down to the fact that my mother never went on and on about her weight or scrutinized the way she or I looked. It was a revelation when I started hearing my friends reveal their weight and body image insecurities and talking about how much weight they wanted to lose, or the next fad diet they were about to try. And even worse, the type of plastic surgery they'd have if they could afford it. I still have no idea how much I weigh. And I think that's probably a good thing.
We don't realise it, but the beauty industry influences us from a very young age. The images we see and the on the telly and in magazines somehow lodge themselves into our subconscious and we all want to be like that...and then chastise ourselves for not being like that.
Dove have just a new campaign to promote positive body image. It's aimed at mothers with young daughters and encourages them to address self esteem and body image issues by educating their children before the beauty and fashion brands take their influence. It's very powerful and a really positive step coming from a leading beauty brand. Take a look:

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Farnham Estate Spa in Cavan, Ireland where I was treated to a Vitamin C facial. The results were amazing. Read all about it here:

Well, it looks like my wish for a September heatwave is not to be granted. But rather than dwelling on the negatives, I've found another way to cheer myself up. Autumn's round the corner and that means a heap of funky new fashions, glitzy make-up and amazing accessories have found their way into the shops. And soon they'll be finding their way into my wardrobe and onto my dressing table. Yay!
Check out our round up of the best Autumn has to offer:

I recently tried Elemis' new body sculpting cellulite and colon therapy at their Mayfair day spa. If you're looking for a treatment to kick-start your detox and ditch those dimples it could be for you. But be warned, the treatment doesn't come cheap. Here's my review:
